I’ve read the following quotes from Ray Nagin over the last couple of days:
- “You need to be scared”
- “If you decide to stay, you are on your own”
- “We really don’t have the resources to rescue you after this”
I was reminded of the scene where George Costanza pushes children and an old lady out of the way to escape an apartment fire. I’m sure Ray was the first one out of the city.

During the Table Tennis Gold Medal match between Ma Lin and Wang Hao, the following remarks were made by the commentators:
- “Break it down, style-wise”
- “The strongest forehand on the planet, pure power”
- “Whoever controls the short, soft balls…”
- “Ma Lin has really developed a reputation as being the Jim Kelly of table tennis”
- “They respect one another’s power”

There are several funny things about this:
- It’s a mustache comb
- It’s on a necklace
- It costs $168
If I were capable of growing a mustache and had $168, this would be hanging around my neck.
However, the more I think about it, this is the perfect accessory for the man who doesn’t have a mustache. What better way to make friends than to offer to comb someone’s mustache for them.
Generic NBC Interviewer: If I had told you before the race that you would beat Jeremy Warner by .99 seconds, almost 1 full second, would you believe me?
Lashawn Merritt: Sho’ would have.
I love this time of year, when disarticulated feet migrate across the ocean to spawn on the beaches of the pacific northwest.

Kung-Fu Jesus is my favorite Jesus.
Talking about “I Want to Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles, Ger Tillekins said:
“There is the downward modulation in the middle eight, where the home key of G is shifted to C by pivoting on the minor fifth…”
I know nothing about music but I’m almost positive that he’s just making this stuff up.
